Matt Salemme

Traffic Reporter

Matt Salemme is WISN-12's News Chopper 12 reporter. He has been with WISN 12 since January 1998 and has been a part of some of the biggest stories in the past decade.

Matt does traffic reports from the WISN 12 studios during "12 News This Morning," and does reports from the chopper during early evenings.

Matt was the first person on the scene when the crane collapsed at Miller Park, was part of the award-winning coverage of the Falk Corp. explosion, was above the Patrick Cudahy plant when the roof reignited. He even got to provide aerial shots for a Monday Night Football game at Lambeau Field.

Before coming to Milwaukee, Matt worked as an airborne reporter for WBBM-AM 780 in Chicago for two years, a weekend news anchor for WLS-AM 890 in Chicago for a year and a half and as a fill-in airborne reporter for Fox 32 in Chicago for a year.

Though he grew up in the Chicago suburbs, Matt said he likes the people of Milwaukee. "They seem more friendly and laid back than other places I've been," he said.

Matt has been married for more than 10 years and has two sons. His favorite free-time activities are bicycling and playing with his kids, whether it's football, video games or playing in the park.

"I truly love everything about my job," he said.
