Several shops and restaurants open for 'Holiday Happenings'

Watch our "Show Me Milwaukee" Spotlight every Wednesday on 12 News This Morning at 6 a.m.With the holidays approaching, several businesses in Milwaukee's west side want you to shop local this weekend.The West Vliet Street Business Association is hosting "Holiday Happenings" on Friday and Saturday.It's a one-stop-shop for you to look for holiday gifts and grab a bite to eat.Charles E. Fromage is one of the restaurants particiapting in this weekend's event.Tucked away near 58th and Vliet streets, the owners say they founded the restaurant after a need for a late-night bite on the way home from concerts and basketball games downtown.The restaurant's menu includes a variety of cheese plates, local beer, wine and craft cocktails to its customers.The owners tell 12 News that you can stop by while you check out the other shops between 43rd and 60th streets on Vliet.They are even offering free rides on a horse-drawn carriage.For more information, including the hours of "Holiday Happenings," visit the business association's website.Don't forget, you can stream season one of "Show Me Milwaukee" on the free Very Local App.
