OF MY CHILDHOOD. I GREW UP IN A PLACE LIKE THIS, FIXING BIKES AND DOING EVERYTHING LIKE THAT. AND SPEAKING OF FIXING BIKES WHERE YOU CAN SEND KIDS FROM THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB HERE TO DO THAT, TEACH THEM LIFE SKILLS. I HAVE THE MANAGER, GABRIEL, RIGHT HERE AND I SEE YOU DOING SOME WORK RIGHT HERE. I SEE YOU DOING A LITTLE WORK OVER HERE. YEAH. SO THIS IS BASICALLY. JUST GOING THROUGH THE BASICS OF JUST KIND OF RUNNING THROUGH EVERYTHING FROM SHIFTING TO BRAKES TO CHECKING TIRE PRESSURE TO KIND OF GO OVER EVERYTHING. AND THIS IS ALL THE SAME SKILLS THAT ALL THE KIDS WILL BE LEARNING WHEN THEY COME IN FOR THE PROGRAM. AND THEY’LL BE LEARNING TO WORK ON THESE BIKES AND OTHER BIKES SIMILAR TO THIS ONE. NOW, WHAT DO YOU CALL THIS THAT YOU PUT THE BIKE ON? BECAUSE BACK IN MY DAY WE JUST TURNED THEM OVER AND HAD THEM IN THE DRIVEWAY. SO THESE ARE. YEAH, SO THESE ARE OUR BIKE STANDS. SO, SO A LOT OF PROFESSIONAL SHOPS WILL HAVE BIKE STANDS OR THEY’LL HAVE MOBILE BIKE STANDS TO USE. SO FOR THOSE WHO AREN’T FAMILIAR WITH IT, IT IS MORE HELPFUL FOR US TO HAVE IT ALL SETTING UP AT ONCE AND ABLE TO GET OUR HANDS ON EVERYTHING THAN BENDING OVER. AS YOU KNOW, FLIPPING OVER A BIKE WAS FUN AT ONE POINT. IT WAS FUN. BUT NOW YOU GOT ME FEELING LIKE I WAS AN AMATEUR. YEAH, THIS IS NOW YOU SAID YOU GO THROUGH HERE AND YOU CHECK THE THE BRAKES AND THE GEARS AND ALL THAT. HOW DOES THAT WORK? SO ESSENTIALLY WE JUST KIND OF RUN THROUGH CHECK THE SHIFTING, WE CHECK THE DERAILERS GO THROUGH EVERYTHING. WE MAKE SURE EVERYTHING’S PROPERLY LUBED WITH PROPER LUBRICATION, KIND OF GO THROUGH EVERYTHING, MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS GOOD TO GO. OH, THAT’S HOW THE PROFESSIONALS DO IT. YEP. AND THEN ONCE AND ONCE, THAT’S ALL SET UP, YOU KNOW, WE GO THROUGH EVERYTHING. WE RUN IT THROUGH. AS IT GOES UP AND DOWN AND IT BREAKS SMOOTH. IT’S READY TO GO. NOW, ONE OF THE CULPRITS WHEN I WAS GROWING UP WAS YOUR CHAIN POPPING. NOW, IF YOU’RE IF YOU’RE RIDING YOUR CHAIN POPS, WHAT’S USUALLY THE CULPRIT? SO FOR IF YOU’RE WORKING WITH MULTIPLE GEARS, IT’S PROBABLY EITHER GOING TO BE YOUR DERAILERS OR IT’S PROBABLY GOING TO BE YOUR CHAIN RING. ONE OF THE TWO. OH, LOOK. SEE, LOOK, I GOT A I GOT TO TAKE NOTES NOW FOR FOR THE KIDS TO COME IN HERE AND DO THIS PROGRAM. HOW DO THEY DO IT? SO, AGAIN, THEY COME COME THROUGH THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB AND WHAT THEY CAN DO IS SIGN UP THROUGH THE WEBSITE AND GO ON THE WEBSITE AND GO TO BIKE PROGRAM AND YOU’LL SEE ALL THE INFORMATION THERE. AND THEN THEY’LL START THEIR PROGRAMING FOR ABOUT 24 WEEKS, LEARNING THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS, COMING HERE, GOING TO THE BUBBLER BIKES AND GOING TO ALSO BOYS GIRLS CLUB TO LEARNING ALL THE NECESSARY SKILLS THEY NEED TO WORK ON BIKES. NOW MOST OF YOUR BIKES, ALL YOUR BIKES ARE DONATED, RIGHT? RIGHT. YES. ALL OF OUR BIKES HERE ARE DONATED. SO THEY ALL COME FROM EITHER CUSTOMERS OR OTHER BIKE SHOPS, POLICE DEPARTMENT, MILWAUKEE, TRANSIT SYSTEM ANYWHERE. AND ANYTHING THAT’S BIKE RELATED WILL COME TO US. MAN APPRECIATE YOU, GABRIEL. THANK YOU FOR GETTING UP EARLY WITH US AND LET ME START WORKING ON WHAT I NEED TO WORK ON. WE’RE GOING TO GET TO YOU GUYS BACK AT THE STUDIO DREAM BIKES RIGHT HERE ON MLK AND BROWN. LET ME GET TO WORK RIGHT HERE. I GOT THREE JOBS THIS MORNING. LET’S GO SEE. I COULD DO THAT TOO. I CAN PUT SOME AIR IN YOUR TIRE. THAT’S SIMPLE ENOUGH
