Residents at a Milwaukee apartment complex are upset, saying they have not had mail delivered for months. Tenants living near 43rd Street and Good Hope Road said postal workers stopped coming by after a dog attack. "Everyone's complained. So we're, you know, we're just stuck," said Deidria Mundy Washington. Washington said all 27 units at the complex have been without mail for more than a year. She reached out to WISN 12 News for answers. "It's very disheartening," Washington said. Washington said in June of 2022, all tenants got a letter from the United States Postal Service that said, "We are concerned your dog may attack and bite or otherwise injure your postal service carrier."Washington said shortly after the letter was sent, a dog attack happened. "A large dog that they let loose in the courtyard against the rules because all dogs are supposed to be leashed, and the dog tore the mailman's pants," Washington said. Washington said that now, all tenants' mail is re-routed to the post office at Florist and Teutonia avenues for pick-up."I have tried everything to get mail because I am, as you can see, disabled myself, and it's not always convenient for me to go to the post office to pick up my mail," Washington said.WISN 12 News reporter Kendall Keys went to the management company's office, Renters Warehouse, to see if they've been working on a solution. The doors were locked. In a phone call, a Renters Warehouse employee declined to answer any questions. In a statement to WISN 12 News, the United States Postal Service said, "The safety of our delivery employees and the aim to provide great customer service are both paramount to who we are as an organization. Due to several dog attacks, the Postal Service suspended delivery at 6974 N 43rd Street in Milwaukee. Management has informed the owner multiple times. Delivery will resume when it is safe for the letter carrier."
