An expanded partnership is bringing a major renovation to one of the Summerfest stages.
On Thursday, Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. (MWF) and Aurora Health Care announced they are expanding their existing partnership after 6 years, which includes a new stage sponsorship.
The Aurora Pavilion is now located in the center of Henry Maier Festival Park, just inside the Mid Gate.
Last summer, the venue was known as the Sound Wave Stage. Back in 2022, it was called the Johnson Controls World Sound Stage.
"We look forward to the excitement ahead, and we look forward to rocking on in 2024," said Cristy Garcia-Thomas, the President of Advocate National Center for Health Equity, which is the parent company of Aurora Health Care.
Upgrades to the pavilion will include a widened entrance, which will increase venue capacity. Accessibility will also be improved for those with limitations, walkways will be expanded, and bathrooms will be updated. A big permanent video screen will also be installed at the venue.
During Summerfest, the Aurora Pavilion will host a mix of local artists and national touring acts, featuring diverse genres. The Sound Waves DJ/Dance party concept, which debuted in 2023 and features popular DJs and elevated lights and sound, will continue to be incorporated into the Aurora Pavilion programming each night.
Aurora Health Care and MWF say this agreement with Aurora will go beyond the Summerfest music festival. The two groups say they plan to hold events together at the pavilion year-round.
"We like the way in which we can bring diverse audiences together to enjoy music and entertainment and then also continue to utilize the stage assets year-round," said Garcia-Thomas. "We can also bring some of our community health work to the Summerfest grounds, such as potentially bringing our mobile clinics, doing community diaper drives and other things that we'll be working on. We'll have programming that we'll be ready to announce in March."
Aurora Health Care has also been the Exclusive Health Care partner of Summerfest, which will continue with this expanded partnership. Aurora sponsors First Aid, the Nursing Mother’s Suite, Lost Children’s Area and identification wristbands, healthy menus, sunscreen, and hand sanitizer stations at Henry Maier Festival Park.
They will also sponsor Latin Music Day during Summerfest, along with a free morning workout event at the park.
