THE POST SAYS, QUOTE, THE MILWAUKEE POLICE DEPARTMENT MOURNS THE LOSS OF OFFICER JAMES NOWAK, WHO HONORABLY SERVED THE MILWAUKEE COMMUNITY AND OUR DEPARTMENT FOR OVER 12 YEARS. OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH HIS FAMILY, FRIENDS AND OUR MEMBERS WHO WERE IMMENSELY SUFFERING FROM THIS TRAGEDY. NOWAK’S ORGANS WERE OFFICIALLY DONATED OVERNIGHT. POLICE SAY THE 30 YEAR OLD’S CAR CRASHED INTO A SEMI THAT WAS TRYING TO MAKE A U-TURN FOR PENNSYLVANIA AND OAK SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS IS A PICTURE OF NOWAK WITH HIS PARTNER, OFFICER PETER GERVING. The Milwaukee Police Department posted a tribute to one of the department's officers who died following a crash Sunday night.James Nowak was off-duty when he was involved in a crash with a semitrailer at Pennsylvania and Oak in Oak Creek. Police said the truck was attempting to make a U-turn when Nowak's car slammed into the side of it.Nowak was pronounced dead late Wednesday night.In a Facebook post Thursday afternoon, The Milwaukee Police Department shared a photo of Nowak. "The Milwaukee Police Department mourns the loss of Officer James Nowak who honorably served the Milwaukee community and our department for over 12 years," the post read. "Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and our members who are immensely suffering from this tragedy."
