The Milwaukee Police Department posted a tribute to one of the department's officers who died following a crash Sunday night.
James Nowak was off-duty when he was involved in a crash with a semitrailer at Pennsylvania and Oak in Oak Creek. Police said the truck was attempting to make a U-turn when Nowak's car slammed into the side of it.
Nowak was pronounced dead late Wednesday night.
In a Facebook post Thursday afternoon, The Milwaukee Police Department shared a photo of Nowak. "The Milwaukee Police Department mourns the loss of Officer James Nowak who honorably served the Milwaukee community and our department for over 12 years," the post read. "Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and our members who are immensely suffering from this tragedy."
