REALLY FUN STAPLE OF THE HOLIDAYS, AND OUR SYDNEY CHADWICK’S TAKES US TO A STREET NEAR DOWNTOWN GREENVILLE THAT IS MAKING HOME DECORATING A TEAM EFFORT IN IN A BIG WAY. IT’S JUST SIMPLE JOY AND HAPPINESS. IT REALLY IS. DURING THE HOLIDAYS, NOTHING PUTS A SMILE ON YOUR FACE QUITE LIKE A WAVE FROM A GIANT JOLLY MAN IN THE RED SUIT. WE JUST LOVE MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY. BUT WHAT ABOUT 40 OF THEM? WE WANTED TO GO BIG BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT EARL STREET DOES LINING EAST EARL STREET IN GREENVILLE AND BEYOND STARTED WITH OUR BLOCK HERE ON 100 EAST EARL AND HAS EXPANDED TO THE ADJACENT BLOCKS AND THEN EVEN OVER TO WEST EARL. AND IF YOU CAN’T TELL BY LOOKING THESE SANTAS ARE NOT SMALL AND HE’S 14FT AND THEY SEE YOU WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING AND WHEN YOU’RE AWAKE, HE STAYS UP PRETTY MUCH 24 OVER SEVEN. THE WOMAN BEHIND THE IDEA TO LONGTIME EAST EARL STREET RESIDENTS WITH ONE GOAL IN MIND. IT SPREADS THAT THAT CHRISTMAS SPIRIT AND THAT CHRISTMAS JOY. AND THAT’S YOU KNOW, THAT’S REALLY WHY WE DID THIS. AND WHEN THEY SHARED THE IDEA OF PUTTING UP THESE GIANT INFLATABLE SANTAS WITH THEIR NEIGHBORS WAS THE RESPONSE. IT WAS OVERWHELMING AND INSTANTANEOUS. PRETTY MUCH SO. ONE BY ONE, THE SANTAS APPEARED AND IT’S SAFE TO SAY THEY’RE GAINING SOME POPULARITY. THE SANTAS MAKE EVERYONE SLOW DOWN. WE SEE PEOPLE VIDEO. WE SEE CARS WITH KIDS HANGING OUT, COUNTING THEM. THE BEST PART OF IT HAS JUST BEEN SEEING THE PEOPLE DRIVING UP AND DOWN THE STREET WITH SMILES ON THEIR FACES AND THE FAMILIES WALKING. ON SUNDAY AFTERNOONS, YOU KNOW, COUNTING THE SANTAS. AS FOR WHEN THE SANTAS WILL SAY GOODBYE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, OH, NO, WE DON’T WANT TO THINK ABOUT THAT

They're going all out this year with decor for the holiday season.Staffers have decorated the entire building with an array of lights, with a giant Santa, elf, and reindeer on the roof to greet customers as they come and go. "It's just the season and it's about giving and caring for others. I think that the world needs a lot more of that, honestly," McCord said.

This year, he has around 35,000 lights across his home and front yard and he has 19 songs in his holiday light show, lasting roughly 146 minutes.

"We rented a boom truck this year to put about 5,000 lights back in the tree to make it more fuller and rich," he said.


Wadsworth, Ohio

Clark Griswold has taught this Ohio family everything it knows about exterior illumination. The Griswold house has come to life in northeast Ohio, completely covered from top to bottom with lights, similar to the home in "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation."

It's the work of the Osterland family and is the culmination of the childhood dream of patriarch Greg Osterland.


Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

Norman Montgomery has lived at the same Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, home his whole life.

What started as his dad putting one string of lights across the house has evolved over the last 39 years.

Montgomery now spends four to six weeks setting up the display and said he'll continue as long as he's physically able.

"It's a very good feeling. People come in and compliment us on how nice it looks and whatnot. The kids just absolutely love it. They don't want to leave," he said.


Independence, Kentucky

This northern Kentucky man has officially won Christmas.

Located in Independence, Kentucky, Mark Koors not only decorated his entire home, front to back, but also his neighbor's yard.

It's a must-see this holiday season.

Koors says the entire display takes about 2 1/2 months each year to set up. It's a project of love he has taken on for years.


York County, Pennsylvania

Marie Urich has been putting on a display in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania, for five decades.

"It started when my sister and I were little. She would decorate but not in this large of a scale," said Urich's daughter, Caroline Garner.

Garner said her mom's love of Christmas continues with a little help from her and her husband, Ken, who live next door.

"It grew over the years and just got out of control," Ken Garner said.

Not only are the decorations spread over the yards of both homes, but Urich displays them throughout the inside of her house.

Her favorite are the snowmen, which are in her den. People who stop by to see the lights can get a peek from the window.

A home in Hamilton, Ohio, is leaving no blade of grass unturned, decking out its front and back yard in lights – even including a lit-up archway.

The display features more figurines and inflatables than you can count.
