It was a holiday extravaganza Saturday for 50 Milwaukee kids who had the chance to participate in this year's Milwaukee County Shop with a Cop.The annual event is hosted by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office. This year, they teamed up with the Milwaukee Police Foundation and various local law enforcement agencies to bring together 50 officers to shop with local kids for the holiday. "It means a lot to me to participate just giving back, taking the kids shopping. It's just everything. It's just all about building the relationship and just enjoying it and having fun," Milwaukee police Officer Alicia Walker said. The day kicked off with a breakfast at Journey House followed by a police-escorted motor coach ride to 3rd Street Market Hall. The kids and officers were greeted by the Milwaukee Police Department recruits and the Milwaukee Police Band. Each kid was then given a $150 gift card to spend at the new Kohl's location downtown. "The volunteers and the police officers are just so excited that everybody's heart is filled with joy. It's just such a great event. It truly is magical," Capt. Catherine Trimboli said with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office. The event also featured face painting, ornament making, games, and a pizza party to end the day. A holiday tradition that fills shopping baskets and hearts with joy this Christmas.
