50 local kids had the chance to shop with a cop for the holidays and enjoy holiday activities at 3rd Street Market Hall.

MILWAUKEE POLICE RECRUITS PROVIDING A WARM WELCOME SATURDAY MORNING AS KIDS IN LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT FLOODED INTO THIRD STREET MARKET HALL. THE ANNUAL SHOP WITH A COP EVENT BROUGHT TOGETHER 50 POLICE OFFICERS FROM MULTIPLE LOCAL AGENCIES, EACH PAIRING UP WITH A MILWAUKEE KID TO SHOP FOR THE HOLIDAYS WITH THE HELP OF A $150 KOHL’S GIFT CARD. WHO ARE YOU GOING TO BE SHOPPING FOR? I KNOW YOU SAID YOUR MOM. ANYONE ELSE? MY DAD AND MY BROTHER. AND I’M. GIVING MY DAD BUCKS STUFF. MARIUPOL FOR MY MOM. IT MEANS A LOT TO ME TO PARTICIPATE IN JUST GIVING BACK AND TAKING THE KIDS SHOPPING. IT’S JUST EVERYTHING. IT’S JUST ALL ABOUT BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP AND JUST ENJOYING AND HAVING FUN AND THE EVENT WENT FAR BEYOND SHOPPING AS GROUPS OF KIDS DID FACE PAINTING, PLAYED SOME VIDEO GAMES, EVEN MADE SOME HOMEMADE ORNAMENTS. AND OF COURSE, HAD A VISIT WITH SANTA. HO, HO, HO! WE’RE HAVING FUN AND GETTING STUFF. THE VOLUNTEERS AND THE POLICE OFFICERS, THEY’RE JUST SO EXCITED. AND EVERYBODY’S HEART IS FILLED WITH JOY. IT’S JUST A GREAT EVENT. IT TRULY IS MAGICAL. CHRISTMAS IS ALL ABOUT FAMILY AND KIDS. SO GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY REALLY JUST PUTS THE TRUST BACK IN THE COMMUNITY WITH POLICE AND CITIZENS AND THE CHILDREN HERE FILLING SHOPPING BASKETS AND HEARTS WITH HOLIDAY JOY. THIS CHRIS

50 local kids had the chance to shop with a cop for the holidays and enjoy holiday activities at 3rd Street Market Hall.

It was a holiday extravaganza Saturday for 50 Milwaukee kids who had the chance to participate in this year's Milwaukee County Shop with a Cop.The annual event is hosted by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office. This year, they teamed up with the Milwaukee Police Foundation and various local law enforcement agencies to bring together 50 officers to shop with local kids for the holiday. "It means a lot to me to participate just giving back, taking the kids shopping. It's just everything. It's just all about building the relationship and just enjoying it and having fun," Milwaukee police Officer Alicia Walker said. The day kicked off with a breakfast at Journey House followed by a police-escorted motor coach ride to 3rd Street Market Hall. The kids and officers were greeted by the Milwaukee Police Department recruits and the Milwaukee Police Band. Each kid was then given a $150 gift card to spend at the new Kohl's location downtown. "The volunteers and the police officers are just so excited that everybody's heart is filled with joy. It's just such a great event. It truly is magical," Capt. Catherine Trimboli said with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office. The event also featured face painting, ornament making, games, and a pizza party to end the day. A holiday tradition that fills shopping baskets and hearts with joy this Christmas.
