Jessica Schmid became the Assistant News Director at WISN 12 in 2020. She’s an Emmy award-winning journalist who’s worked at the station for more than 20 years.

Schmid started as an intern, then produced several newscasts before being promoted to the Executive Producer of 12 News This Morning, and then Executive Producer of 12 News at 10 p.m. In 2015, Schmid became the dayside Executive Producer.

Schmid is a native of Rochester, New York. She fell in love with journalism after interning at a station in her hometown in high school. Schmid moved to Milwaukee to attend Marquette University and graduated with a degree in Broadcast and Electronic Communication.

Schmid and her husband have three children. They love exploring all that Southeast Wisconsin has to offer. They also spend a lot of time at youth sports games, cooking new recipes and traveling to see family.
