Jared Fialko

Sports Anchor/Reporter

Jared Fialko joined the Big 12 Sports team in June 2022 after nearly a decade of dodging hurricanes in Raleigh, North Carolina. Originally from the home of the Michael Scott Paper Co., he grew up just outside of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and will make references to “The Office” at least four times a day.

Jared graduated from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a degree in broadcast journalism mere weeks after Carmelo Anthony, Gerry McNamara and the Orange won a NCAA National Championship. When his first instinct following the victory was to grab a camera and document the celebration/hysteria, he knew this was the career for him.

Prior to stops across the great state of West Virginia and Asheville, North Carolina, Jared learned from local sports royalty at WRAL-TV. He was blessed to sit baseline for 15 Duke/UNC basketball games (always opt for the one at Cameron Indoor for the better atmosphere), cover Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers’ run to Super Bowl 50, travel along on the Canes’ quest for Lord Stanley’s Cup, in addition to traversing the country for numerous NCAA Tournament sites and bowl games.

Jared and his much-smarter-than-him-doctor-wife live in Wauwatosa where they attempt every Escape Room they can find, hike and buy too many video games for someone his age. They both love and appreciate the hospitality Wisconsin’s already shown them.

He believes that everyone has a story that defines them, and he’d be honored to share anyone’s great sports tale if you drop him an email at Jared.Fialko@hearst.com
