Emily Pofahl

Reporter

Emily Pofahl joined the WISN 12 News team in June 2023.

Before joining WISN, Emily was a reporter and fill-in anchor for two years at KAAL-TV, covering Southeastern Minnesota and Northern Iowa. There she covered a myriad of stories - from the severe backlog in the area’s criminal court system, to what local lawmakers were doing at the state capitol.

Her reporting on a devastating tornado in the small town of Hartland helped to earn her station a regional Emmy nomination for their coverage that night. Emily also did a week-long live series reporting from Uvalde, Texas, one month after the shooting at Robb Elementary – focusing on how one Minnesota family made the trip south to help children recover.

Before KAAL, Emily attended the University of Minnesota and was a photographer for the student newspaper, The Minnesota Daily. There she was in the thick of the Minneapolis protests following the death of George Floyd, covering the community’s calls for justice. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Emily also freelanced for the Sahan Journal. She wrote in-depth obituaries for Minnesota immigrants who died from COVID-19.

Emily is originally from California but now considers the Midwest her home. She is thrilled to be in Milwaukee and plans to spend her free time exploring all Wisconsin offers.
